Readers Theatre
Last year, the English Theatre Society of our Primary School adopted - for the first time in Greece - the Readers Theatre technique which is a worldwide known method of approaching literature for students in the States.
Our School had the honour to host the internationally acclaimed Professor of Children's Literature, Dr. Elizabeth Poe, who introduced us to the specific technique. Dr. Poe came to Athens by invitation of the Greek Section of IBBY and visited our School in April in order to meet the young students-actors of the English Theatre Society. She collaborated with the children for a week, and under her guidance and advice, the students improved their "scripts" and performance reading. The outcome of this collaboration was the performance "I love it when you read to me" which was presented in the School's theatre on Tuesday, June 6th.
For this innovative work, great interest was shown by the magazine "Kids Fun" which provides both parents and children with valuable and creative ideas for over a decade. On Tuesday, July 2nd, the crew of " Kids Fun" was invited to film the performance and "Readers Theatre" will be soon found on the magazine's website menu.
