Αγγλόφωνο Πρόγραμμα (EAL)
Children are natural linguists. They acquire language quickly, easily, and without effort or formal teaching. Language acquisition happens naturally through interaction.
At IMP School we value language learning as we are committed to preparing our students to become future-ready global citizens. The core principle behind our EAL programme is to offer our students the opportunity to develop their fluency in English alongside their home language and, through this learning journey, to develop a sense of multiculturalism from an early age.
The EAL experience - A journey, not a destination
From Nursery School to Lykeio/Senior School, we encourage learning as a lifelong pursuit. In all its breadth and depth, our EAL programme aims at providing a solid bilingual foundation which will gradually develop to high academic levels.
Primary School
Over the next six years, language acquisition gradually becomes language learning as we provide all our children with the opportunity to follow a well-structured course, our Core English, which develops their full linguistic repertoire and enables them to move from Basic Users to Independent Users (B1). Our English language classroom is a positive, productive, supportive environment in which learners not only learn to speak, listen, read and write with confidence, but also cultivate key life competencies and attitudes needed for the 21st century.
The English as an Additional Language programme and its learning outcomes have been developed by the highly qualified educators of our EAL department, who apply the most contemporary methods in English language teaching, and choose and create the most effective and up-to-date material and resources. Last but not least, the success of the IMP English programme is that, for our EAL department, every child is unique; we will closely watch each and every student learn, monitor their progress and facilitate their needs throughout their journey. Last but not least, the success of the IMP English programme is that our students do not need any form of supplementary instruction or private-in-home tutoring. The EAL department will closely watch each and every student learn, monitor their progress, facilitate their needs, and guide them in every step of their journey.
CLIL – Content and Language Integrated Learning
CLIL is a revolutionary approach where students learn a subject and a second language at the same time. Our CLIL English classes, an integral part of our EAL programme, deliver more learning opportunities to students and promote a deeper level of language assimilation as well. Content and language aims are designed with the students’ needs in mind and increase in complexity throughout the school years. What’s more, 21st century skills and competencies form the bedrock of our CLIL English classes, which help students develop essential critical and creative thinking, collaboration, communication, digital literacy skills and social responsibilities. At IMP School, we pride ourselves on preparing our students for the demands of an ever-changing world.
