SEV JMUN 2016, 11-13 March
For the 3rd consecutive year, our School took part in the Junior Model United Nations conference hosted by SEV Üsküdar Middle School from the 11th to the 13th March. Our JMUN team returned from Istanbul on Sunday and it was a huge success.
IMP School had two delegations representing Spain (Primary 6 students) and the USA (Junior High students) in the Security Council, the Disarmament Committee, the Human Rights Committee, the Health Committee, the ECOSOC, the Political Committee, the Territorial Disputes Committee, and the Environment Commission.
Although this was the first JMUN for all eleven of them, and the first time ever that Primary school students attended a UN simulation conference abroad, our students settled in quickly to the programme of the conference and felt comfortable with all procedures. Being enthusiastic and keen to learn as much as they could, they were very active in negotiations and took the lead in drafting and submittingresolutions. Thus, they impressed everyone –the executive board, the chairs, their fellow delegates and admin- with their thorough preparation, concentration and efficiency.
We are utterly proud of our students and we wish this newly-found interest develops into a great long-term passion for them. Moreover, we hope this experience taught them something new about the world, and themselves.
